Our traditional Panela Whole Cane Sugar is a minimally processed sweetener that retains most all of the nutritional characteristics of the sugarcane grass.

The golden amber color is indicative of the molasses content of the cane juice, which is maintained throughout the entire processing of the product.

Sugarcane has been traditionally grown and processed in Colombia for over 500 years in the same manner as this product is done today.

The cane is gathered from the fields, where it is grown by using organic standards, and then brought to the processing facility.

From there organic standards are still maintained as the cane is pressed and the juice is extracted.

The juice is then heated to remove the moisture content until a dry, granulated, concentrate is left behind and the resulting product is called Panela in Colombia.

This same process has been used by cultures all over the world for generations, but with different names such as Rapadura in Brazil, Jaggery in India, and Moscavado in the Philippines. It is one of the best ways of producing a nutrient-rich granulated sugar that can be used in a variety of ways where granulated sugar is desired.

Panela Whole Cane Sugar 5 gallon life latch screw top pail

Love this sugar. It has more nutrients in than the normal white sugar most buy. It also has the molasses in it giving it a rich brown look and a wonderful taste. I use it for all my needs. Highly recommend it.

Awesome sugar- worth every penny!

I bought this 32 lb. tub of sugar last year about this time and just this month ordered another one. This is some of the best sugar I've ever used. I love to bake and I love to drink sweet creamy coffee in the morning. The flavor of this sugar rivals the best organic demerara sugars that sell for $8+ for 6 ounces. It's perfect grind means even the most delicate baked goods stay light and delicious. The bucket is a handy tool for storage in the shop or greenhouse of things you don't want to get damp over winter. No, I did not consume 32 lbs. of sugar last year by myself :). I have a renter on my property and she loves this sugar too. She actually chipped in this year since she has not had to buy sugar for a year. We've made cookies, birthday cakes, pies, pickles, applesauce and a million other things to share with friends and family too. We share hot coffee, cold brew, iced tea, lemonade with all who visit and, still, it took a year to use it up. A great bargain and an amazing find. I hope I'm always able to get this stuff!
