Whole Grain Hot Cereal

Our Ancient Whole Grain Hot Cereal combines three ancient grains (einkorn, farro, and oat groats) together to make one delicious combination!

This whole grain goodness can be used alone as a nutritious and delicious hot breakfast, or can be taken up a notch with healthy add-ins like blueberries, maple syrup, whole cane sugar, or even yogurt!  And of course you can keep it simple by just adding a pat of grass-fed butter or spoon of coconut oil.

Please don’t limit this nutrition power house to just the breakfast meal.  It can be used as a great side item to meat and/or vegetables, a rice substitute or served cold in a grain salad!

Ancient Whole Grain Hot Cereal Directions

To prepare, use a ratio of 1 cup of cereal to 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.  Then on a low heat setting, let it simmer for approx. 20-25 minutes until the desired consistency is achieved.

Special Packaging

When Healthy Traditions began to look at producing products in the U.S. from traditional sources, food that tested clean from GMOs, glyphosate, and other herbicides and pesticides, we were faced with a dilemma:

How do we package these high quality clean foods?

We began a search for packaging that did not contain harmful chemicals and was not harmful to the environment. What good is sourcing and selling high quality traditional food if it is going to be contaminated by the packaging?

The brown bags you see in our newest products, including our Cornbread Mix, reflect what we found was currently the best option for packaging our high-quality line of traditional products.

These bags harmlessly decompose anywhere that microbes are present (salt and fresh water, soil, landfills or in a backyard compost).

They decompose into organic matter without leaving any pollutants behind. (Independent Lab tests show - "None Detected.")

They have been lab tested for possible leaching of many heavy metals and pollutants, and none were found.

Whole grain cereal

This is a wonderful grain blend. I eat it like rice, as breakfast sometimes, in soups is wonderful, too. It is like barley when put in soup. I cook it separate in a batch to just add to other foods. Very nice grains.

Ancient whole grain cereal

I enjoy this grain soaked over night and low heated with a strip of Kombu. I eat a bowl full with raisins and cinnamon. Tasty and satisfying. Good to know it is tested for glyphosates. Thank you.

Great way to start the day.

My husband and I really like this cereal. There's a lot more texture to it than plain oatmeal. I make it with coconut milk instead of water and add a scoop of protein powder, some cinnamon and a pinch of salt. When it's nearly done, I add some blueberries or peaches. Very filling and good for you.

Ancient Whole Grain Hot Ceral, 2 lb bag

I love these whole groats. I find it only takes about 30 minutes of cooking to get them to the softness that I enjoy eating. They do require more water than organic steel cut oats, which I use to eat. I love the 3 ancient grains that comprise this mixture. They are delicious! :-).

Great hot cereal

I ground it in old burr coffee grinder to make it similar to Irish oatmeal. Cooked up easily and quickly, added fresh homemade apple sauce. Very yummy!
