This is The First Virgin Coconut Oil Sold in America!
Tropical Traditions began exporting Virgin Coconut Oil from the Philippines to the US in 2001.
At that time, there were only one or two other companies in the US even selling coconut oil, and they were highly refined coconut oils, mostly used for cosmetics and skin care products.
The prevailing belief was that coconut oil was dangerous to consume as an edible oil, due to its high saturated fat content.
But having lived in the Philippines for several years, I was forced to challenge my own thinking that coconut oil was bad, seeing first hand how the older generations in rural areas consumed home-made coconut oil from fresh coconuts, and thriving from a high-fat diet where coconut oil was their main dietary oil.
We started making our own coconut oil by hand, the traditional way, and consuming it as a family. We decided to make this product available to the US market. Distinguishing this hand-made traditional coconut oil from the refined coconut oils mass produced by machine, we called it "Virgin Coconut Oil."
We were the first ones to export Virgin Coconut Oil from the Philippines to the US market. The success overwhelmed us.
Today, more than 18 years later, there are other companies now selling coconut oil again in the US, most of them mass-produced by machines.
But we are committed to time-honored traditional practices that have produced natural coconut oils for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
Our Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is still made by hand by small-scale family producers in the Philippines.
These producers have learned a lot of things over the years, since most of them have been producing this oil for over 18 years now.
Independent laboratory analysis shows this to be one of the highest quality coconut oils on the market, having the highest levels of antioxidants using a wet-milling process.
This hand-made artisinal Virgin Coconut Oil is marketed in the US under the Tropical Traditions Gold Label brand. It meets our strictest standards to earn this designation, and is also now part of our Glyphosate-tested program.
Today when you buy Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, you are buying the highest quality coconut oil we have to offer, and it is still made by hand and benefiting families in the rural areas of the Philippines where the coconuts grow.
We are not aware of any other hand-made coconut oil like it in the market!

Characteristics of Our Gold Label® Virgin Coconut Oil
This Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil.
Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines.
Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest.
The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world!
Testing done in independent laboratories on coconut oil antioxidants reveals higher levels of phenolic antioxidants than other coconut oils.
The fresh coconut meat is shredded and then the water from inside the coconuts is added to make coconut milk (wet-milled). The coconut milk is then allowed to sit for about half a day, while the oil naturally separates from the heavier water.
The oil is then heated for a short time and filtered from the curds (coconut solids).
No chemicals are used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids.
We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years.
The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year.
This high-grade Virgin Coconut Oil has a long shelf life due to the high antioxidant properties. The Gold Label Standard is our highest standard for Virgin Coconut Oil.
Transporting coconuts far away from the pollution of any city or roads in the rural mountain areas of Mt. Banahaw in the Philippines, in preparation to make Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil.

Best Coconut Oil For Humans and Animals
I have used this for several years on myself, my dogs and cats and horses. I use this oil for many purposes on me and my pets. My cats and dogs line up in the morning for a dab and my horses whinny when they see me opening up my smaller containers of oil for them. My pets have glowing coats, do not get itchy. The horses have beautiful manes and tails that are almost tangle free. I use the oil around their eyes to remove the gunk that will accumulate from time to time, makes it very easy to take off. I use it as a sealer if I need to put essential oil on any wounds, abrasions, etc that may occur. Iuse it on myself for personal use and cooking. I will occasionally use it for a half hour or so on my hair and then rinse it off to prevent dry scalp. I prefer shaving my legs and under arms with it than shaving cream, much smoother and less harsh than shaving cream. It is also great to use on my horse tack, the leather on my saddle, reins, boots, etc.
