Scough started three years ago as an investigation into how they might use an incredible technology—industrial-grade woven carbon filters—to help keep families healthy and bring awareness to flu and pollution issues.

These filtered scarves were developed to help protect against industrial pollutants, tear gas, flu bugs and allergens.

Every scarf protects on 3 fronts.

Trap

The secret is its high degree of microporosity, just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of 500 m2 for trapping sneeze fragments and pollution.

Neutralize

The structure of activated carbon creates strong Van der Waals forces, pulls in pollution, germs and viruses to hold them in their crevices and neutralize them.

Kill

Advanced silver nanoparticle impregnated filtration disrupts the biochemistry of bacteria, causing their cell's membranes to collapse and rendering them unable to wreak havoc on your body.

How to wear your filtered scarf:

Snap neck loop behind neck

Elastic neck loop guarantees easy accurate filter placement so you're always getting a filtered breath.

Move filter into position over nose

Pinch the embedded nose crimp to set yourself up with the best seal possible.

Wrap ends over either shoulder

Adjust for fit and tightness by passing the top edge of the Scough round to the back of the head.

Protective Filter, Only

Every two to three months (depending on use) your filter will fill up with the car exhaust, smog, tear gas, and dust that you, luckily, did not inhale. You're going to want a new one.

Forgot how it works? Active carbon works by adsorbing (yes, with a "d") particles into its massively porous structure. Did you know a teaspoon of our active carbon has about as much surface area as a whole football field? When carbon is heated to ludicrous temperatures, it forms a ferocious number of little nooks and crannies that through the magic--err--SCIENCE of Van der Waals forces capture and neutralize particulate matter.

How to Wear Your Scough

Follow these simple steps:

1. Wash hands thoroughly before touching the filter.

2. Insert Scough filter into scarf pocket.

3. Pull filter through, adjust to fit in pocket.

4. Pull scarf over your head and position with pocket in front covering nose and mouth.

5. You're ready for urban sneeze warfare.

6. For maximum flu fighting power, store filter in resealable bag when not in use.

Wash and Care Instructions

Remove Scough activated carbon filter before washing. Hand wash, never use bleach, do not wring, hang to dry.
